Spring 2005 Game Summaries
X-treme 5, Mid-County Hotshots 1
March 19, 2005
The X-treme opened the Spring 2005 campaign with a 5-1 convincing win over long-time rival the Mid-County Hotshots.  Jessica opened the scoring, followed by Amy, Dawn, Sahar, and Caitimac.  Good balance on offense and intensity on defense were the keys.

X-treme 2, Allegeny Magnum Force (PA) 0
March 19, 2005
The X-treme endured a very phyical game from this Pittsburgh area team.  With the win, the X-treme qualified for the Championship Game of the PWSI Icebreaker.  Jennifer and Dawn drove in the game winners.  Another strong defensive effort by the X-treme.

X-treme 1, SWYA Spirit 0
March 20, 2005
In what was essentially a meaningless, yet exciting game (the X-treme had already qualified for the Championship Game of the PWSI Icebreaker Tournament earlier), the X-treme played strong defense and moved the ball well on offense.  Sahar hammered home the winner from 25 yards with 10 minutes left in the game.  Rachael nearly added a second goal on a tremendous header from 15 yards away that smashed into the crossbar.

Gunston Glory 2, X-treme 0
March 20, 2005
An exhausted defense finally calapsed during the Championship Game of the PSWI Icebreaker Tournament.  Playing with only four defenders for almost all four games of the tournament, the X-treme finally cracked midway through the final--allowing two quick goals.  The X-treme then totally dominated the second half, taking more than 15 shots and allowing the opponent to cross midfield only three times.  However, the shots did not go in and the X-treme settled for a rather unsettling second-place finish.

X-treme 0, Waldorf Wildcats 0
April 9, 2005
The X-treme dominated the offensive action throughout most of its first WAGS game of the season against a strong, experienced, and physical Waldorf team. But, the team couldn't capitalize on its opportunities.  The X-treme's defensive turned in its usual strong effort to help the team gain its first point of the new WAGS season.

X-treme 2, Vienna Premier 1
April 10, 2005
The X-treme's offensive attack came out hard in the first half, but the 0-0 score at halftime was reflective of the defensive battle.  At the beginning of the second half, the X-treme scored its first two WAGS goals of the Spring 2005 season on rockets first by Sahar and later Yovanna.  Vienna Premier fought back hard to tighten the final score to 2-1.

X-treme 2, VA CASL Elite 1 (OT)  STATE CUP
April 16, 2005
The X-treme played one of their most exciting games ever in the first round of the Virginia State Cup.  Down 1-0 with less than a minute left to go, Yovanna made an incredible pass to Sahar, who hammered home a shot to tie the score.  The X-treme then scored in the first three minutes of overtime on another beautiful pass from Carli to Sahar, who knocked home the game winner.  It was another strong effort by the X-treme's defense, holding a good VA CASL Elite team to one goal.

X-treme 1, Arlington Pride 0
April 17, 2005
Dreams do come true!  Before joining the X-treme last summer, Jennifer and Nicole played for an Arlington team.  They looked forward greatly to playing against the Arlington Pride.  Their dreams came true today.  Nicole played great midfield.  And, Jennifer scored the game's only goal on a well-placed shot from outside the 18-yard box.  The X-treme's offensive attack turned in a strong passing performance, while the division's best defense had another outstanding effort.  GREAT WIN!

X-treme 3, Alexandria Arrow 1
April 24, 2005

After a slow start and trailing 1-0, the X-treme turned it on to score three answered goals.  Jessica scored the first goal on a wonderful pass from Jennifer.  Sahar added two second half goals on tremendous passes from Carli and Cassie.  The win helped the X-treme maintain its first place lead in WAGS Division 3.
